Organising with Tags

Organising with Tags

Tags make it easier for others to find your posts on Tumblr, or organize posts by a specific topic on your blog. For instance, you could tag your landscape photographs with #landscape or posts about your dog with #dog. Your posts will then be visible in global tag searches for #landscape or #dog on Tumblr and on your blog (e.g. https://stashthemes.tumblr.com/tagged/themes).

You can learn more on how to organize your posts with tags on Tumblrs “Tagging your posts” article.

Adding Tags

When creating a new post at the bottom there’s a section to add new “tags”

Linking to Tag Pages

To create tag pages on your blog, follow these steps:

  1. Add specific tags to each of your posts.
  2. In the Customize menu, click “Add a page” in the Pages section.
  3. Choose “Link” from the dropdown menu. (If you don’t see this option, keep using Tumblr, and it will unlock over time.)
  4. In the “Link to” field, add /tagged/mytag to the end of your blog URL, replacing “mytag” with your tag. For tags with multiple words, use an underscore, plus sign, or dash between words (e.g., /tagged/bubble_tea, /tagged/bubble+tea, /tagged/bubble-tea).
  5. Enable “Show a link to this page.”
  6. Click “Save.”

The link will now show on your blogs navigation. You can also achieve this by using the “Custom Link” options on the customize screen.
